BACK TO THE
LOG
Date: February 14, 2006

Location: New Orleans, LA
          Lake Pontchartrain

Crew: Jason King
      Chris Bolen

Aaron Weidenhaft

Wind: South/Southeast at 5 becoming
calm

Seas: Calm

General weather: Sunny and in the
mid to upper 60's. Very little cloud
cover and no sign of rain.

Notes: This was a very quick twilight
sail. We finally got the motor working
great and took the boat out to take
advantage of the fading light. It was a
race to get back under power before
dark. The marina has no lights, nor
does Mojito quite yet. I will be installing
new running lights within the next two
weeks and purchasing a rechargeable
Q-Beam spotlight in case we stay out
late.

Despite having an unusual beer
shortage because someone (Chris) left
most of the beer at the dock, we had a
great time. It's a wonderful thing to sail
in February in a t-shirt.

We sailed east for a couple of miles
and stayed near the seawall. We
turned for home at dusk and quickly
ran out of breeze. Being able to motor
back with a nicely purring Atomic 4 was
a good opportunity to run the engine
and to put a charge on the batteries.

Looking forward to sailing Thursday
night and, weather permitting, all
weekend. Time to dust off the Magma
grill.
Please disregard jury rigged boom vang.
Yes, I desperately
need a new
headsail. It is on the
list. At least I have
my Triton burgee
from
NETA.
